The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a Federal tax credit available to employers for hiring individuals from certain target groups, which includes ex-felons:

A new hire meets the criteria for this target group, if the individual:

  • Has been convicted of a felony; AND
  • Has a hiring date that is not more than 1 year after the conviction or release from prison.

I love the resources from this website.  You can get a 72 Hour checklist that our clients can use for when they are first released as well as a transition plan.  Also, you can find other resources for such things as housing, transportation, treatment and therapy, and referrals to re-entry programs.


The public defender’s office in Orange County can guide you towards resources as well as cleaning-up your record.  They also have links to other resources that may be relevant to your needs.


Illumination Foundation Logo

The Illumination foundation has a great program for job readiness, job placement, and financial literacy. They also have housing, healthcare, and community services such as Life Skills and Children’s Enrichment.  http://www.ifhomeless.org/ab


NTMA Training Centers     This school offers Machinist training, a career that is currently in demand both in manufacturing and aerospace industries.  They have really good placement rates and is a career to surely provide you with a solid career and income.

Mary’s Kitchen   A non-profit organization where you can get a free meal.  Open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  A hot meal is served at 1:00 p.m.   Showers are also available until noon Monday through Saturday.                                                                                 517 W Struck Ave. , Orange, CA 92863, (714)633-0444
